Their solubility in organic solvents and low smoke emission enhance their applicability. Notably, their good biocompatibility and reduced nonspecific protein binding, compared to polystyrene, make them valuable in medical and biochemical applications. The higher density of PMMA spheres facilitates easier separation through centrifugation, and their hydrophilic anionic surface with a refractive index of 1.48 further expands their utility, including use as bondline spacers where slight deformation under pressure is desired
